Velvet Leaves Verdure is not a plant shop in the traditional sense.
It is an adoption sanctuary for living, breathing beings made of leaves, roots, and quiet resilience.

Based in Duvall, Washington, we offer both in-person and online adoptions for plants who are each waiting for the right environment, the right caretaker, and the right pace.

Here, plants are not décor.
They are individuals.

Helping Plants Find their People

Here, plants are treated as living companions.. each with a temperament, a history, and specific needs. Rather than selling on impulse, we focus on thoughtful matching: pairing plants with the right people based on light, humidity, experience level, and lifestyle. Every plant leaves with a care dossier that includes feeding rhythms, pruning guidance, and behavioral notes, so expectations are clear from the beginning.

Our role doesn’t end at adoption. We act as caretakers and counselors, offering follow-up support, troubleshooting, and gentle guidance for climbing vines, sensitive leaves, or finicky bloomers. Through seasonal care workshops, optional check-ins, and a growing library of plant profiles, we support long-term bonds. Thus, turning plant ownership into a mindful, ongoing relationship rather than a one-time purchase.

  • We do not use chemical pesticides or harsh treatments. Instead, we focus on building resilient plants from the ground up. Our soil is mixed in-house to support healthy roots, balanced moisture, and long-term growth, tailored to the needs of the plants we work with.

    Pest management is handled through beneficial insects, allowing us to address imbalances without disrupting the ecosystem of the plant. This approach protects both the plant and the environment while encouraging natural stability. It’s also safer than using pesticides.

    Feeding is done thoughtfully using liquid fertilizers, applied in measured rhythms that support growth without forcing it. Every choice is intentional — guided by observation rather than routine.

    Our approach is slower, gentler, and more responsive. We believe plants thrive best when supported, not controlled.
